Margaret's father was George Morris and her mother was Mary Ann Lomax. Her maternal grandparents were Levi Lomax and Margaret Booth. She had four brothers and three sisters, named George, Albert, George, Eric, Lillie, Emily and Phyllis. She was the fourth oldest of the eight children.
