Wright was born on September 19th, 1819 in Prestwich and his baptism took place on December 5th, 1819 at St. Mary-the-Virgin (Prestwich).1 2  Wright's father was Michael Mather and his mother was Betty Street.  His paternal grandparents were Thomas Mather and Margaret Scholes. He had four brothers and four sisters, named Thomas, Michael, John, Charles, Ann, Alice, Betty and Mary.  He was the third oldest of the nine children.  He died at the age of 68 in 1887 in Middleton.3 




Wright's first family with Sarah Summersgill

‌Wright and Sarah were married in a civil ceremony in 1879 in Oldham.3  There are no children.


Wright's second family with Ann Bamford

‌Wright and Ann were married.  They had four biological sons and two biological daughters, named Handel, Wright, Wright, Walter, Maria and Martha.  They also had an adopted daughter named Mary.  There are no more children.
