Volney Mather

Volney was born in 1890 in Atherton.¹

Volney's father was John Mather and his mother was Ellen (Helen) Mather.  His maternal grandparents were James Henry Mather and Martha Williamson.  Nicholas Croston and Sarah Mather were his grandparents through his father's adoption. He had two brothers and two sisters, named John, Frank, Lotie and Helen.  He was the oldest of the five children.  He died as a war casualty at the age of 27 on July 31st, 1917 in Belgium.  He was buried in Belgium.²
