John Mather

John was born in 1864 in Atherton.¹

- John was 24, a year older than Ellen when they married 17 Oct 1888
  
  Recorded as "John Mather" son of "William Eckersley", a Collier (probably from Atherton) on John's marriage record.

He had two brothers and two sisters, named William, Thomas, Ann and Bessy. He was adopted by Nicholas Croston & Sarah Mather. He died at the age of 43 on February 8th, 1907 in Atherton. His burial was in February 1907 in Atherton.²³

  17 Oct 1888, Ellen Mather (23), a spinster at Morris Green, Middle Hulton, the daughter of James Henry Mather (Gentleman) married John Mather (a clogger), son of William Eckersley at Deane Parish Church.
  
  1 June 1887, John and Ellen Mather were witness to John William Mather's marriage to Elizabeth Williams
