On the 1881 census, birthplace: "Lancashire, Ashton" has been heavily over-written with Ireland. This may be a correction error, as the following Nuttall family at No. 58 Moor Lane are from Ireland. However, her brother Henry was also born in Dublin.
The 1911 census revales Ellen's birthplace: Arklow, Wicklow, Ireland
Helen's father was
James Henry Mather and her mother was
Martha Williamson. Her paternal grandparents were
William Mather and
Jane Biggarstaff. She had two brothers and a sister, named
John,
Henry and
Sarah. She was the youngest of the four children. She died at the age of 77 on December 26th, 1942 in
Atherton. She was buried in December 1942 in
Atherton.

17 Oct 1888, Ellen Mather (23), a spinster at Morris Green, Middle Hulton, the daughter of James Henry Mather (Gentleman) married John Mather (a clogger), son of William Eckersley at Deane Parish Church.
In 1907, John Mather of Bolton Road, Atherton died.
In 1909, Ellen Mather of 286 Bolton Raad was included on the Atherton Electoral Register.
In 1911 Helen (not Ellen) aged 45 was a widow with her sister Sarah Jane at 286 Bolton Road, Atherton.
