Helen's father was John Mather and her mother was Ellen (Helen) Mather.  Her maternal grandparents were James Henry Mather and Martha Williamson.  Nicholas Croston and Sarah Mather were her grandparents through her father's adoption. She had three brothers and a sister, named Volney, John, Frank and Lotie.  She was the third oldest of the five children.  She died at the age of 6 on July 22nd, 1899 in Atherton.  She was buried in July 1899 in Atherton.¹
