Helen's father was John Mather and her mother was Ellen (Helen) Mather. Her maternal grandparents were James Henry Mather and Martha Williamson. She had three brothers and a sister, named Volney, John, Frank and Lotie. She was the third oldest of the five children. She died at the age of 6 on July 22nd, 1899 in Atherton. Her burial was in July 1899 in Atherton.¹
