On 9 March 1857, Thomas, now a Butcher in Liverpool Road, Manchester married Ellen McCordle. His father John is shown as a Mechanic.
In 1867, when wife Ellen died, the family were living at 151 Butler Road, Prestwich.
In 1871, Thomas, a butcher, and Mary (both 37) were at 382 Oldham Road, Butcher's Shop. They had Joseph (13), John (10), James (6), and Eliza Ellen (4).
In 1875, (son) Thomas Mather of 382 Oldham Road, Manchester was in attendence at his mother's death.
In 1881, Thomas and Mary (both 45) were at 4 Gibbon Road, Mancherster, a Beef butcher. Thomas had his four surviving children.
