Richard Mather

Richard was born in May 1815 in Westhoughton and his baptism took place on May 21st, 1815 in Blackrod.¹²

Richard's father was Edward Mather and his mother was Ruth Gregory. His paternal grandparents were William Mather and Alice Aldcroft. He had two brothers and six sisters, named John, Edward, Ruth, Martha, Ellen, Alice, Betty and Ruth. He was the sixth oldest of the nine children. He died at the age of 59 in March 1875 in Wigan.³

- In 1841, Richard, a weaver, and Mary (20 & 25) are living at Roger's Farm, Westhoughton, with John (5), Ann (3) and Mary (6 months), a neighbour of his mother Ruth at the same farm.
  
  Richard did not re-marry Jane Ingram in 1848 at Wigan. That was Richard son of William. He boarding in Wigan in in 1871 and died there 1875.
