Ruth Mather

Ruth was born in 1819 in Westhoughton and her baptism took place on February 24th, 1820 at St. Bartholomew (Westhoughton).^1 2

Ruth's father was Edward Mather and her mother was Ruth Gregory.  Her paternal grandparents were William Mather and Alice Aldcroft. She had three brothers and five sisters, named John, Richard, Edward, Ruth, Martha, Ellen, Alice and Betty.  She was the second youngest of the nine children.  She died at the age of 47 in August 1866 in Lancaster.  She was buried on August 19th, 1866 in Lancaster.³
