Ellen Mather

Ellen was born in 1809 in Deane.

Birth Notes
- Ruth, Martha, John and Ellen were not baptised but died and are buried at Westhoughton. After them, Alice and Ellen were baptised at Blackrod, with abode shown as Westhoughton. Edward and Ruth were married at Deane and the years born (calculated from death ages), form a sequence approx 2 years apart. It is therefore likely all four all children of Edward and Ruth from Deane.

Ellen's father was Edward Mather and her mother was Ruth Gregory. Her paternal grandparents were William Mather and Alice Aldcroft. She had three brothers and five sisters, named John, Richard, Edward, Ruth, Martha, Alice, Betty and Ruth. She was the fourth oldest of the nine children. She died at the age of 17 in May 1826 in Westhoughton. Her burial was on May 27th, 1826 at St. Bartholomew (Westhoughton).¹
