Martha Mather

Martha was born in September 1841 in Quarlton.¹

Martha's father was Richard Mather and her mother was Mary Rostron. Her paternal grandparents were Thomas Mather and Alice Entwistle. She had two brothers and five sisters, named John, Richard, Alice, Sarah, Martha, Mary and Jane. She was the seventh oldest of the eight children.

- Martha, unmarried, was with both parents in 1871 (so not married to Henry)
  
  In 1871, Martha (unmarried, 26, born Quarlton) and living with parents at Pelton Fold had Richard (8) and Sarah Jane (5).
  
  In 1881, Martha (36, born Quarlton) was Head at Turton Bottoms. She was unmarried, a Rag Picker at the Paper Mill, but had three children, Richard, Elizabeth Ellen and George (17, 3, & 9 mo). She should be 40, so could be wrong Martha
