Jane was born in August 1843 in Quarlton.1  Jane's father was Richard Mather and her mother was Mary Rostron.  Her paternal grandparents were Thomas Mather and Alice Entwistle. She had two brothers and five sisters, named John, Richard, Alice, Sarah, Martha, Mary and Martha.  She was the youngest of the eight children.  She died at the age of 1 on December 1st, 1844 in Quarlton.1
