Maragret was born in March 1838 in Billinge and her baptism took place on March 4th, 1838 at St. Aidan (Billinge).¹²

Birth Notes

Maragret's father was John Mather and her mother was Sarah Anderton. Her paternal grandparents were John Mather and Betty Houghton. She had five brothers and three sisters, named Peter, James, James, William, John, Elizabeth, Sarah and Mary. She was the fourth youngest of the nine children.
