Judith (Lucy) Mather

Judith, known as Lucy, was born on March 18th, 1812 in Walmersley and her baptism took place on April 12th, 1812 at St. Mary-the-Virgin (Bury).¹

Lucy's father was Robert Madther and her mother was Judith (Judy) Chadwick. Her paternal grandparents were Robert Madther and Betty (Elizabeth) Ripson. She had four brothers and four sisters, named Samuel, Francis, Richard, Robert, Patience, Leah, Sally and Leah. She was the youngest of the nine children. She died at the age of 73 in December 1885 in Bury.²

- 29 Apr 1840, before they were married, Judith Mather of Pigslee had twins Alice and Judith Mather by John Schofield of Deeply Vale. They were baptised the same day at Christ Church, Walmersley.

  In 1851, John and "Lucy" were at Heap with daughter Sarah (8).
