There is also a John Mather, Machine maker who married Ann Thomason
John was quite old when he married Elizabeth (probably Elizabeth Wild in 1828). Before then he was probably married to Ann, who died in Atherton in 1819, aged 29.
1833-1837, John was a weaver at Tyldesley when MaryAnn, Sarah and Phoebe were baptised.
In 1841, John and Elizabeth (56 & 40) were at Mop Row, Tyldesley with their three daughters Mary Ann (8), Sarah (6) and Phoebe (4).
John died between 1841 and 1851
In 1852-53, John must have been relatively prosperous as his daughters Sarah and Mary Ann both married by certificate at Tyldesley (recording their father John Mather as deceased).
