Jane was born in April 1827 in Bolton and her baptism took place on April 15th, 1827 at St. Peter's (Bolton).1 2  Jane's father was James Mather and her mother was Catherine Rawsthorn or ROSTRON.  Her paternal grandparents were <unknown> and Jane Mather. She had two brothers and four sisters, named Henry, James, Susannah, Peggy, Lavinia and Lavinia.  She was the second oldest of the seven children.  She died at the age of 42 in April 1869 in Bolton.  She was buried on April 22nd, 1869 at the St. James (New Bury).3 4

‌Jane and Abraham were married in a religious ceremony on May 31st, 1846 at St. Peter's (Bolton) by Curate Thomas Loxham and witnessed by James Bee.5   They had five sons and three daughters, named John, William, Robert, James, Thomas, Ann, Betsy and Mary.  There are no more children.  James and Thomas were twins.
