Henry was born in 1833 in Bolton and his baptism took place on May 18th, 1834 at St. Peter's (Bolton).1  Henry's father was James Mather and his mother was Catherine Rawsthorn or ROSTRON.  His paternal grandparents were <unknown> and Jane Mather. He had two brothers and five sisters, named James, William, Susannah, Jane, Peggy, Lavinia and Lavinia.  He was the fourth youngest of the eight children.
