Peggy was born in 1828 in Bolton and his baptism took place on September 29th, 1833 at St. Peter's (Bolton).1  Peggy's father was James Mather and his mother was Catherine Rawsthorn or ROSTRON.  His paternal grandparents were <unknown> and Jane Mather. He had three brothers and four sisters, named Henry, James, William, Susannah, Jane, Lavinia and Lavinia.  He was the third oldest of the eight children.
