Florence's father was Alfred Mather and her mother was Esther Ramwell Bleakley.  Her paternal grandparents were Miles Mather and Betsy Jane Tonge. She had four brothers and a sister, named James, Walter, Thomas, Robert and Elizabeth.  She was the third oldest of the six children.  She died at the age of 53 in 1952 in Horwich.
