Ann was born on October 26th, 1830 in Elton and her baptism took place on January 2nd, 1831 at St. Mary-the-Virgin (Bury).1 2  Ann's father was Richard Mather and her mother was Hannah Sharples.  Her paternal grandparents were James Mather and Mary Evans. She had a brother and three sisters, named William, Mary, Sarah and Sarah.  She was the second oldest of the five children. She had two half-brothers and three half-sisters, named Thomas, Robert, Frances, Esther and Alice.

‌Ann and William were married in a religious ceremony on August 14th, 1858 at St. Mary-the-Virgin (Bury) witnessed by John Whittaker & Ra. Crompton.3  The family line is yet to be completed.
