Thomas Scowcroft (Mather)

Thomas was born in March 1838 in Tottington and his baptism took place on March 25th, 1838 in Bury.¹²

  Thomas Bastard son of Mary Scowcroft of Tottington

He had a brother and three sisters, named Robert, Frances, Esther and Alice. He was adopted by Richard Mather & Mary Scowcroft. He had a half-brother and four half-sisters, named William, Ann, Mary, Sarah and Sarah. He died at the age of 61 in February 1900 in Bury. His burial was on February 19th, 1900 at St. Paul (Bury).³

General Notes
- Thomas was not with the family in 1841, there is no birth registered, and he was not baptised. He is most probably the bastard son of Mary Scorcroft baptised 25 Mar 1838.
  
  In 1841 Thomas (3) and assumed sister Martha (1) were in Noth Bury, living with their grandparents Thomas and Nancy Scowcroft (55 & 50, weavers) and mother Mary (30). There is also no birth registration for Martha Scowcroft.
  
  In 1851, Thomas (13) is with Richard and Mary.
  
  In 1900, Thomas died (61) in North Bury and is buried at St Paul, Bury.
