Andrew Mather

Andrew was born in June 1846 in Little Hulton and his baptism took place on August 2nd, 1846 in Deane.¹²

Andrew's father was Henry Mather and his mother was Sarah (Sally) Swindels. His paternal grandparents were James Topping and Alice Mather. He had six brothers and four sisters, named William, James, Levi, Joseph, John, Peter, Molly, Mally, Alice and Mary. He had two adopted brothers named Henry and James. He died at the age of 70 on October 23rd, 1916 in Bolton. His burial was in October 1916 at Wharton Lane Presbyterian.³⁴

General Notes
- In 1868, Andrew married Betty Grundy continued to live in Little Hulton, initially with Bettys parents. They had several children including John Henry (b.1871). Levi (1873-74), and four other died young, aged one to two years and are buried at Wharton Presbyterian Chapel. At leat five others survived.
