Peter was born in June 1856 in Little Hulton and his baptism took place on September 14th, 1856 in Deane.1 2  Peter's father was Henry Mather and his mother was Sarah (Sally) Swindels.  His paternal grandparents were James Topping and Alice Mather. He had six brothers and four sisters, named William, James, Levi, Joseph, Andrew, John, Molly, Mally, Alice and Mary. He had two adopted brothers named Henry and James.  He died at the age of 50 in December 1906 in Bolton.3 




Peter's family with Esther Lever

‌Peter and Esther were married in a civil ceremony in 1879 in Bolton.5  They had a daughter named Annie.  There are no more children.
