Mary, known as Lizzie, was born in March 1912 in Wrexham and her baptism took place there on March 29th, 1912.1 2  Lizzie's father was James Patrick MacDonald and her mother was Elizabeth Ann Barker.  Her maternal grandparents were Aldred Barker and Rose (Rosanna) Anna Evans. She had a brother and a sister, named Banjamin and Ethel.  She was the oldest of the three children. She had three half-brothers and four half-sisters, named John, George, Henry, Irene, Amelia, Sarah and Rose.

‌Lizzie and Harold were married in a religious ceremony in March 1931 in Wrexham.3
