Edna's father was Thomas Lewis and her mother was Alice Emma Taylor. Her paternal grandparents were William Lewis and Catherine Whalley. She had three brothers and three sisters, named William, Thomas, Edward, Alice, Eunice and Jessie. She was the third oldest of the seven children. She died at the age of 89 on July 17th, 1994 in Knowsley.²
