Francis Knowles

Francis' father was Robert Knowles and his mother was Mary Ann Mather.  His maternal grandparents were John Mather and Alice Gore. He had three brothers and five sisters, named John, Francis, Robert, Ellen, Alice, Jane, Elizabeth and Ellen.  He was the oldest of the nine children.  He died at the age of 9 in April 1863 in Little Bolton.  He was buried on April 21st, 1863 at St. Mary (Deane).²
