Mary Ann Mather

Mary was born in 1830 in Hindley.¹

- Aged 22 when married in 1852, from Halliwell
  Aged 30 in 1861, born Hindley
  Aged 40 in 1871, born Hindley

Mary's father was John Mather and her mother was Alice Gore. She had three brothers and a sister, named George, George, David and Sarah. She was the youngest of the five known children. She died at the age of 49 in October 1879 in Bolton. Her burial was in October 1879 at Tonge-with-Haulgh Cemetery.²³

  In 1852, Mary Ann Mather was 21 and living in Halliwell when she married Robert Knowles at Deane. Her father was John Mather, a Weaver.
  
  In 1861 and 1871, Mary A was in Little Bolton with Robert and family (so not the Mary with brother John in 1871 at Hindley so may also not be the Mary with sister Ellen in 1851).
