Sarah Gore Mather

Sarah was born in 1821 in Bolton.¹

Sarah's father was John Mather and her mother was Alice Gore. She had three brothers and a sister, named George, George, David and Mary. She was the fourth oldest of the five known children. She died at the age of 40 in 1861 in Bolton. Her burial was in December 1861 at Tonge-with-Haulgh Cemetery.²³

- It is assumed Sarah and Mary Ann are sisters. Both from Halliwell, daughters of John a weaver, and marrying at Deane.
  
  In 1841, Jonathan Hamer, a Chair Maker, son of Thomas Hamer, a Shop Keeper, married "Sarah Grove Mather", daughter of John Mather, both from Halliwell. The signature is Sarah Gore, not Grove.
  
  In 1851, Sarah Hamer (30, Widow) was living with her mother Alice Mather (65, Widow, born Liverpool), a Green Grocer at 127 Derby Street, W Bolton.
  
  Sarah died in W Bolton in 1861, aged 41.
