John Isherwood 
John was born in 1837 in Entwistle.1 John's father was Jonathan Isherwood and his mother was Ann Mather. His paternal grandparents were Henry Isherwood and Jane Holt; his maternal grandparents were James Mather and Rachel Hamer. He had three brothers and five sisters, named James, William, Thomas, Jane, Rachel, Margaret, Sarah and Nancy. He was the second oldest of the nine children.General Notes
