William or Mary or transcription error? There is no Mary, daughter of Thomas and Jane baptised 25 July 1789 at Malpas (on either the Bishop's transcript oo the Malpas index). The only HOPLEY baptism is for William on the 28th July 1789:

Both William and wife Ann's deaths are registered at Tattenhall, so the age is probably correct.

The baptism shows William was from Malpas.
In 1841, William and Ann (45 & 50) were farmers at Chowley, Cuddington. William had four sons and his father Thomas Hopley (aged 80) with him.
In 1851, William and Ann still had three sons Thomas, William, and Randle with them farming 133 acres at Barnhill.
In 1861, William and Ann had 162 acres at Old Inn Farm, Broston. Son William was still there (33), and daughter-in-law Elizabeth (3) and two grandchildren and 7 servants.
