Anne was born in 1802 in Overton and her baptism took place on November 28th, 1802 in Malpas.1  Anne's father was Thomas Hopley and her mother was Jane Shone.  Her paternal grandparents were Thomas Hopley and Cicely (Cecilla) Johnson. She had four brothers and three sisters, named William, Thomas, Richard, Owen, Mary, Martha and Jane.  She was the third youngest of the eight children.
