Lester's father was Joseph Farrer and his mother was Ann (Annie) Elizabeth Lister. His maternal grandparents were David Lister and Ann Elizabeth Smith. He had three brothers and four sisters, named James, John, Harry, Ada, Edith, May and Annie. He was the third oldest of the eight children. He died at the age of 74 on March 3rd, 1953 in USA.
