Harry's father was Thomas Eddowes and his mother was Mary Ann Hughes.  His paternal grandparents were John Eddowes and Mary Whitfield. He had four brothers and seven sisters, named David, George, Thomas, George, Emily, Ann, Louisa, Elizabeth, Mary, Mary and Annie.  He was the fifth oldest of the twelve children.  He died due to a childhood disease at 6 months old in December 1869 in Birkenhead.³
