Sarah (Martha) Ann Buckley

Sarah, known as Martha, was born in 1846 in Darcy Lever.¹

  It's strange that the GRO and Lancashire BMD has a birth for Sarah A, but no Martha. This must be an error, as there was no census or death for Sarah A, and yet we have a Martha instead!

Martha's father was Cornelius Buckley and her mother was Esther (Eliza) Scowcroft. Her paternal grandparents were John Buckley and Mary Crook. She had three brothers and two sisters, named Joseph, Josiah, Ephriam, Mary and Sarah. She was the fourth oldest of the six children. She had three half-brothers named James, William and Squire.

- NOTE: The Sarah Ann Buckley that died in 1851 was an infant, born 1850, and MMN = WEBSTER, so another.

- Martha's birth in 1846 was registered as "Sarah Ann", at Bolton (like all the others).
  
  In 1871, Martha married Charles Crosland Greenhalgh at Astley Bridge St Stephen.
  
  In 1878, Martha had a daughter Esther Crossland Greenhalgh, who survived an was with her in 1891.
  
  In 1881, Martha Greenhalgh (35, Widow) was living with her sister Sarah E Buckley (29) at 6 Woodside Square, Darcy Lever. About July she re-married William Livesley at St Stephen's, Lever Bridge.
