William was born in June 1829 in Wybunbury and his baptism took place there on June 14th, 1829.¹

Birth Notes

William's father was John Brereton and his mother was Elizabeth Shenton. His paternal grandparents were John Brereton and Ellen Latham. He had four brothers and six sisters, named James, James, Joseph, Joseph, Ellen, Elizabeth, Mary, Martha, Harriet and Patience. He was the fourth oldest of the eleven children.
