Mary was born in August 1833 in Hough and her baptism took place on August 11th, 1833 in Wybunbury.¹

Birth Notes

Mary's father was John Brereton and her mother was Elizabeth Shenton. Her paternal grandparents were John Brereton and Ellen Latham. She had five brothers and five sisters, named James, James, William, Joseph, Joseph, Ellen, Elizabeth, Martha, Harriet and Patience. She was the sixth oldest of the eleven children.
