Harriet's father was John Brereton and her mother was Elizabeth Shenton.  Her paternal grandparents were John Brereton and Ellen Latham. She had five brothers and five sisters, named James, James, William, Joseph, Joseph, Ellen, Elizabeth, Mary, Martha and Patience.  She was the third youngest of the eleven children.  She died as an infant in December 1839 in Wybunbury.  She was buried on December 18th, 1839 in Wybunbury.¹
