Patience's father was John Brereton and her mother was Elizabeth Shenton.  Her paternal grandparents were John Brereton and Ellen Latham. She had five brothers and five sisters, named James, James, William, Joseph, Joseph, Ellen, Elizabeth, Mary, Martha and Harriet.  She was the youngest of the eleven children.  She died at the age of 11 in December 1854 in Shavington.  She was buried on December 27th, 1854 in Wybunbury.¹
