Darla Mae was born on February 21st, 1945 in Plymouth, Devon, England.1 Darla Mae's father was George Edward James Northmore HOODLESS and her mother was Candace Myrtle JENNINGS. Her paternal grandparents were James HOODLESS and Jane OADES; her maternal grandparents were Albion George JENNINGS and Martha HENDRA. She had a brother and a sister, named Living and Sylvia Candace. She died at the age of 28 on October 31st, 1973 in Truro, Cornwall, England.1 General Notes

Darla Mae Hoodless was born at 12 Percy Terrace, Lipson ,Plymouth about 10am onthe 21st Feb 1945. She was the third child of George and Candace(nee Jennings)Hoodless. Darla had a brother, Melville born 11 Sep 1929 and a sister, Sylvia born 12 Sep 1931. She was very much the baby of the family. She started school at Laira Green infants and later transferred to the juniors. In 1953 the family moved to 17 Arundel Cres, North Road and she transferred to a school in that area. She attended church at Keyham Methodist and one year was Carnival queen. She worked in the offices of Clarks shoe factory in Plymouth. Through the Methodist Church she met Roger Mitchell and they were married 6 March 1965 at Keyham Methodist. Their first child was Julie who was born in Plymouth 22 Dec 1965. Rogers work took the family to live in Exeter where their son Neal was born 6 Feb 1968. Roger was then transferred to Truro. It was at Truro that Darla became ill with cancer of the bowel. For two and a half years she underwent painful treatment and surgery but to no avail. The family had to watch her suffer and fade to a skeleton and could do nothing to help. Sadly she died at the age of 28 at her home on 31 Oct 1973. She was cremated and her ashes planted at a remembrance park at Truro.
