General Notes
[blott.ged]
Alice Worden was baptised 13 Mar 1791 at Lew Trenchard, Devon and was the daughter of Samuel Worden and Elizbeth (Betty) Strong. Five previous children had been born at Whitestone, Devon. One other child was born at Lew Trenchard and it is thought the family then moved to Bickleigh, near Plymouth where possibly another child was born...but this is not certain. Alice married George Oades 9 Jun 1816 at Stoke Damerell Church, Devon and they also settled in Bickleigh. The couple had six children, George (Nov 1816) Jane (Aug 1820) William (May 1823 died Nov 1824) Richard Worden (Sep 1825) Elizabeth (Mar 1829) and Ann Warn (Feb 1836 died Aug 1842).
Alice was left a widow in 1855 and was later known to have moved to Plymouth where she lived near to her son Richard and his family. She died in April 1877 and left a will giving all her money to Richard (It was listed as being less than £200). Although she died in Plymouth she was taken to Bickleigh to be buried where her husband, mother and three of her children were also buried.
