Jacob was born on June 25th, 1794 in Whitehall Twp., Northampton Co., PA. Jacob's father was Peter Troxell and his mother was Helena Catherine Schoener. His paternal grandfather was Peter Johannes Troxell and his paternal grandmother is Anna Maria X. He had five brothers and three sisters, named John, Daniel, Peter, Abraham, Solomon, Maria Suzanna, Magdalena and Elizabeth. He was the third youngest of the nine children.
