Frances Jane+ Mikels 
Frances Jane+ was born on July 12th, 1847. Frances Jane+'s father was William Howard+ Mikels and her mother was Amy+ Hutchins. Her paternal grandparents were William Henry+ Mikels and Elizabeth+ Greenwood; her maternal grandparents were John Rhodes+ Hutchins and Elizabeth+ Vestal. She had a brother and two sisters, named David C., Martha E. and Sarah P.. She was the second youngest of the four children. She had a half-brother named Hibbard Chalkey. LDS web site file shows Martha E. Mikels b. 2/25/1865 as wife of Elkanah. Our family history indicates that Frances J. Mikels was our ancestor's name. I understand from family sources that Elkanah may have had three or more wives, and he was often "nowhere to be found".
HISTORICAL HI-LITES: Frances was nine days old when Brigham Young reached Salt Lake City and declared that "this is the place!" In 1847, NY and Boston were connected by telegraph, Yerba Buena was renamed San Francisco, and the American Medical Assn (AMA) was founded. Jesse James, Thomas Alva Edison, and Alexander Graham Bell were born in 1847.
