Charles Smith Eastin 
Charles Smith was born on December 4th, 1783 in Fayette, Lexington, KY. Charles Smith's father was Philip Eastin and his mother was Sarah Ann Hite Smith. His paternal grandparents were Thomas Eastin and Sarah Whitlock; his maternal grandparents are Charles Smith and Rebecca Hite. He had five brothers and six sisters, named George, David, Martin, Philip, William, Rebecca, Frances, Mahalia, Louisiana, Sarah and Rachel. He was the second oldest of the twelve children. He died at the age of 81 on September 16th, 1865 in Charleston, Coles, IL.General Notes
"Major Charles Eastin, first white male born in Lexington, Ky." apparently died at the residence of his son, Capt. J.M. Eastin. He served in the wars of 1812 and 1814, and was in Gen. Harrison`s campaign in the Northwest. (Sources 60 and 97.)
