Mahalia Eastin 
Mahalia was born on March 2nd, 1799 in Lexington, Fayette, KY. Mahalia's father was Philip Eastin and her mother was Sarah Ann Hite Smith. Her paternal grandparents were Thomas Eastin and Sarah Whitlock; her maternal grandparents are Charles Smith and Rebecca Hite. She had six brothers and five sisters, named George, Charles Smith, David, Martin, Philip, William, Rebecca, Frances, Louisiana, Sarah and Rachel. She was the fifth youngest of the twelve children. She died at the age of 83 on June 3rd, 1882 in Indianapolis, Marion, IN.General Notes
