Maud was born about 1227 in Derbyshire.  Maud's father was Sir William de Ferrers III and her mother was Sibyl Marshall.  Her paternal grandparents were Earl William de Ferrers of Derby and Agnes de Meschines of Chester; her maternal grandparents were William Marshall and Isabel FitzGilbert de Clare. She had a brother and three sisters, named John, Isabella, Sybyl and Joan.  She was the second youngest of the five children. She had two half-brothers and two half-sisters, named Robert, William, Agnes and Joan.


Maud's family with William ("Fort") de Vivonne

‌Maud and "Fort" were married in a religious ceremony on July 30th, 1248 in England.  They had two daughters named Joan and Cecilia.
