Marie was born in Boves, Somme, France.  Marie's father was Viscount Enguerrand de Courcy III of Meaux and her mother was Dame Marie de Montmirel-en-Brie of Oisy.  Her paternal grandparents were Sir Ralph de Marle de Coucy I and Alix de Dreux; her maternal grandfather was John de Montmirel-en-Brie and her maternal grandmother is Helvide de Dampierre.  She is an only child.


Marie's family with Jean de Brienne

‌Marie and Jean were married in a religious ceremony in 1251 in Boves, Somme, France.  They had a daughter named Blanche.
