Matilda was born in 1285 in <, Wigmore, Hereford, England>.1   Matilda's father was Edmund De Mortimer Lord of Wigmore and her mother was Margaret de Fiennes.  Her paternal grandparents were Roger de Mortimer , Lord of Wigmore and Maud de Braose; her maternal grandparents were William de Fiennes Knight and Blanche de Brienne , Dame de Loupelande. She had five brothers and five sisters, named Roger, Hugh De, Walter De, Edmund II de, John De, Iswolde de, Maude, Joan De, Margaret and Elizabeth.  She was the third oldest of the eleven children.  She died at the age of 27 on September 18th, 1312 in , Alton, Stafford, England.  She was buried on October 9th, 1312 in Croxden Abbey, Croxden, Stafford, England.1 1
