Jean was born in 1225 in Acre, Palestine.1   Jean's father was Count Jean Brienne King of Jerusalem and his mother was Berengaria Alfonsez Princess of Leon.  His maternal grandparents were Alfonso Fernandez IX The Slobberer King Of Leon and Princess Berengaria Queen of Leon and Castile. He had two brothers named Alphonse De and Louis "D'Acre".  He was the second oldest of the three children. He had a half-sister named Yolande.  He died at the age of 71 in 1296 in Brienne-le-Chateau, Aube, Champagne, France.1 


Jean's first family with Jeanne de Châteaudun

‌Jean and Jeanne de were married in a religious ceremony in 1244 in <, Courtrain, Mayenne, France>.1   They had two daughters named Béatrix de and Blanche.


Jean's second family with Marie de Coucy

‌Jean and Marie de were married in a religious ceremony in 1257 in , Boves, Somme, France.2
