Roger was born in 1221 in Camaron Castle, Radnorshire, Wales.1   Roger's father was Ralph de Mortimer and his mother was Gwladys verch Llewellyn.  His paternal grandparents were Roger de Mortimer , Baron Wigmore and Isabel Millicent de Ferrers; his maternal grandfather was Llewelyn I Fawr ap Iorwerth , Prince\Wales and his maternal grandmother is Tangwystl verch Llywarch. He had three brothers and three sisters, named Hugh, John De, Peter De, Maud, Joan and Isolda De. He had a half-brother named William.  He died at the age of 61 on October 27th, 1282 in Kingsland, Herefordshire, England.1

‌Roger and Maud were married in a religious ceremony about 1247.1   They had five sons and four daughters, named Ralph de, Edmund De, Geoffrey De, Roger De, William De, Alicia, Isabella, Isolde (or Iseude) de and Margaret.
