Edmund De was born in 1252 in Wigmore, Herefordshire, England and his baptism took place in 1304.1   Edmund De's father was Roger de Mortimer , Lord of Wigmore and his mother was Maud de Braose.  His paternal grandparents were Ralph de Mortimer and Gwladys verch Llewellyn; his maternal grandparents were William Baron De Braiose and Eve, Lady [Sister of Surety] Marshall. He had four brothers and four sisters, named Ralph de, Geoffrey De, Roger De, William De, Alicia, Isabella, Isolde (or Iseude) de and Margaret. He had three half-brothers and a half-sister, named William De, Brian de, Rhys Fychan ap and Gwinthlian verch.  He died at the age of 52 on July 17th, 1304 in Wigmore Castle, Herefordshire, England.  He was buried in , Wigmore, Herefordshire, England.1 1

‌Edmund De and Margaret were married in a religious ceremony about 1285 in Of, Fiennes, Bolonois, France.1   They had five sons and six daughters, named Roger, Hugh De, Walter De, Edmund II de, John De, Iswolde de, Maude, Matilda, Joan De, Margaret and Elizabeth.
